Migraine headaches are the 7th leading cause of disability worldwide. While the most painful part of the headache itself may typically last 4-72 hours, it’s the before and after effects that are overshadowed and underestimated. The migraine has three distinct phases:

Pre-migraine symptoms can last up to 72 hours.

The migraine itself can last 4-72 hours.

The post-migraine or recovery period can last up to 24 hours.

That means the impact on sufferers can last for up to seven days in a single cycle. No matter how often an attack comes and its potency, it’s a time thief of work (on the job or at home), family and social activities, and even the enjoyment of life in general when one considers the dread factor of wondering/worrying about when the next one will come and how bad it will be (that’s negative thoughts).

So what can be done?

Be aware of YOUR triggers. The body constantly sends messages to the brain from the whole body: digestive tract, muscles, respiratory, skin, etc.  Are you really listening to your body?

Here are some common triggers:

  • Hormonal changes in women, fluctuation in estrogen, pregnancy, menopause and medications
  • Foods (sugar, cheese), food additives (msg, etc.), and beverages like alcohol, wine, and caffeinated drinks
  • Stress
  • Changes in the environment, like weather and barometric changes
  • Intense physical exertion
  • Sleep patterns: too little, too much, jet lag
  • Too much exposure to electronic screens
  • Overstimulation of senses: loud noises, strong smells, bright lights
  • Dehydration
  • Stress


Keep a migraine journal or diary This helps you look at what is happening in your body so you can make adjustments in your diet and balance activities and stress. Besides, it comes in handy when you visit a doctor or specialist.

Imagine for a moment…

you are like a radio, transmitting and receiving energy. That is how our bodies work.  Dr. Jean-Claude Mainguy postulates that the systems of all life are governed by electromagnetic fields, which can either lie within a cell or outside it. We are often exposed to high and low electromagnet fields. The daytime frequency of a healthy human body…

Rice Cooker Oatmeal

When the mornings are chilly, try this yummy recipe for Rice Cooker Oatmeal.  I was inspired by eating some yummy oatmeal one morning at Jamba Juice and chased down a recipe online and then made it my own.  Feel free to make this recipe your own and enjoy in health!  P.S.  I like having this for dinner occasionally!

  • 1 2/3 C Almond Milk (plain or vanilla) You can also use regular milk or soy milk.
  • 2/3 C Steel cut oatmeal (I like Coach’s available at Costco)
  • 1 T ground flax seed
  • 2 T pure maple syrup
  • 1 t (or to taste) cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Handful of dried apples crunched up into smaller pieces  (with or without cinnamon — I like Bare fruit available at Costco) but you can use any dried fruit you prefer
  • 1 t vanilla

Mix in your favorite rice cooker and cook.  My rice cooker is very simple and I just push down the button and come back to lovely oatmeal.  With the more sophisticated models you may find you have to experiment with settings.   You can top with raisins and a little brown sugar and a dollop of almond milk.  Note: If using Vanilla Almond Milk reduce or eliminate the vanilla and maple syrup.  It’s a little too sweet for me that way.

I start this in the morning and then go work out.  How cool is it to smell the cinnamon wafting through the house!  Enjoy!

About Quantum Biofeedback

About Quantum Biofeedback: Quantum Biofeedback is an incredibly accurate system based on the science of Quantum Physics. It is non-invasive and when completed can reveal the specific stressors which could be underlying issues surrounding our body’s ability to heal itself. Specifically, it stimulates the body toward its own state of homeostasis, or balance, which is then naturally accompanied by health. The main premise of quantum biofeedback therapy is that the body is electrical in nature, that it is innately intelligent, that it has the ability to heal itself if the right conditions or stimuli are provided, and that as we become more aware of that which has been unknown to us, we can make changes to improve our wellness. The Quantum Biofeedback device (called Indigo) is designed to energetically scan and harmonize the body’s stress and imbalances through immediate feedback. It is a complex program with electrodes attached by wires to the ankles, wrists and forehead which measure and feed frequency information between the device and the client. The ionic exchanges of reaction that take place in the body and brain (at lightning speed) are measured as energetic components in the body. With a feedback loop, the device zeros in on the specific frequency pulse and sends back an alternate pulse to which the body responds. Bliss List

Ever have one of those days when you just can’t get out of your slump?  Getting out of bed is hard and functioning fully even harder.  We all have these days occasionally.  Of course, I reach for my favorite oils — Balance, Citrus Bliss and Frankincense when I feel this way, but I also reach for my Bliss List (I used to call it my Joy List).

What is a Bliss List you may ask?  A list of at least 50-60 things that give you joy or bliss.  They don’t have to be big things, but things that make you happy, that make you resonate on a higher vibrational level.

So what’s on my bliss list — to start — almost 300 tunes.  Music can bring up your vibration so quickly.  I have so many different tunes on my list, everything from the Beach Boys to the Beattles to Aretha Franklin to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to Show Tunes from my favorite musicals.   Then there are movies, scriptures, books, quotes on my list.  Then activities like bubble baths with candlelight, calling some of my girlfriends (just hearing Shae, Carol or Stephanie’s voice on the phone lifts my spirits), spending time with my children, grandchildren and dogs, getting a massage or mani-pedi, going to the beach or to a park to listen to the children play, etc.  Just some ideas for your bliss list.
